The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support the next 5-year award period of the Clinician-Scientist Transdisciplinary Aging Research Coordinating Center (Clin-STAR CC), whose mission is to serve as a national resource for clinician-investigators across specialties and disciplines who are focusing their careers on aging research. This NOFO intends to build upon NIA's substantial investments to foster the development of clinician-scientists across specialties and disciplines. The specific goals of this initiative are to convey scientific and research knowledge on aging research; foster networking and collaboration between clinician-scientist leaders in aging research and clinician-investigators across specialties and disciplines who wish to focus on aging research; provide mentoring and career development support for emerging clinician-scientists committed to pursuing aging research in their clinical specialty or discipline; and advance interdisciplinary research projects in aging. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites a single cooperative agreement application for the Resource Center for the Cardiovascular Repository for Type 1 Diabetes (CaRe-T1D). The purpose of CaRe-T1D is to support innovative, discovery and mechanistic research through the study of human cardiovascular (CV) tissue. This research seeks to better understand cardiovascular disease (CVD) in type 1 diabetes, highlight differences compared to type 2 diabetes, and ultimately guide the development of therapies to treat this major cause of morbidity and mortality for individuals with type 1 diabetes. <p>This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aims to support activities that build and strengthen sustainable fungal disease detection, diagnosis, surveillance, and response systems. Activities may address interconnected areas such as system and workforce development, laboratory and diagnostic capacity, and improved use of data to inform public health action. Through these efforts, this NOFO seeks to strengthen country and regional capacity to manage and control fungal diseases at their source while promoting long-term ownership and integration into public health systems. These efforts align with the priorities outlined in the America First Global Health Strategy by supporting country capacity to detect, respond to, and control priority fungal pathogens, particularly those that pose a risk for international spread and antifungal resistance, at their source. This funding opportunity aims to support high risk clinical trials for the development of in vivo high-resolution structural and functional imaging technologies for the living human inner ear. Proposed projects should focus on improving the resolution of current imaging techniques or developing new imaging techniques that can visualize inner ear structures in vivo with significantly greater detail and accuracy than currently possible. Structural and functional aspects, including visualizing dynamic elements, are important to developing new and improved techniques. Projects may also focus on developing new imaging probes or contrast agents that can enhance visualization of the inner ear structures. Research supported in response to this RFA is expected to significantly advance the ability to visualize auditory and vestibular components, such as hair cells, otoliths, membranes, ions, and vasculature, in detail in awake patients in a clinical setting using non-invasive techniques. Glioblastoma Therapeutics Network (GTN) (U19 Clinical Trial Required)

Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) solicits applications for research on novel therapies for adult glioblastoma (GBM). The goal is to improve the treatment of adult GBM by developing novel effective agents that can cross the blood brain barrier (BBB) and testing them clinically. Successful early-stage trials of new drugs from this NOFO would transition seamlessly to later stage trials using well-established NCI clinical trial mechanisms.To implement this concept, a highly collaborative GBM Therapeutics Network (GTN) of cross-cutting teams will be established, each team capable of driving therapeutic agent(s) from pre-clinical development, through investigational new drugs (IND) studies, into pilot clinical studies in humans. Appropriate therapeutic agents include: (1) novel agents or (2) agents or combinations approved for other indications and repurposed for treatment of GBM following appropriate preclinical studies. The scope of the NOFO, from late pre-clinical through early (Phase 0/1) clinical studies, uniquely spans a gap in the GBM drug development process.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites exploratory grant applications, hereafter referred to as the Novel Experiential Technologies Assisting Individual learning Hubs or NExT AI Hubs (formerly Learning Disabilities Innovation Hubs), to address the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies on developmental outcomes in children diagnosed with or at risk for developing a specific learning disability (SLD) impacting reading, writing, and mathematics. NExT AI Hubs include a single Research Project and a Leadership Core that support the goals and aims of the Hub. This NOFO seeks to serve as a catalyst to 1) speed the maturation of nascent/novel, high-impact, high-risk research that advances understanding of the role AI technology plays in supporting, improving, or limiting the learning, cognitive, and socio-emotional needs of children at risk for or diagnosed with SLDs, 2) build an evidence base for the SLD community to inform policy or practice, and 3) provide project-embedded, career-enhancing research and professional development opportunities to support the next generation of transdisciplinary SLD scientists. The purpose of this NOFO is to seek applications in a limited competition for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers (IDDRCs). This NOFO invites applications to undergo peer review for research center grants designed to advance the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and is limited to IDDRCs funded under RFA-HD-20-016 or RFA-HD-21-009. In accordance with NIH standard peer-review processes, the application(s) will be peer-reviewed, and only meritorious application(s) will be considered for funding.This NOFO seeks applications from institutions that meet the qualifications for a multidisciplinary program of IDD research that will include: 1) 3-4 total Cores that facilitate interdisciplinary and translational research in IDD and its dissemination, and that support IDD-related projects funded by other sources; and 2) at least two and no more than three specific research projects related to one of several areas identified as areas of research need in IDD. Collaborative investigations combining expertise in translational science, biomarker assessment, outcome measure development, tool validation, bioinformatics, and therapeutic development will be encouraged. Funds for the majority of outside research projects using these core facilities come from independent sources including Federal, State, and private organizations. Expanding global health security through local partnerships in Nigeria

The purpose of this NOFO is to strengthen International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) capacities of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC); other Government of Nigeria ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) relevant to the implementation of multi-sectoral response efforts of the IHR; and sub-national public health institutions, such as State Ministries of Health and local government authorities. NCDC recently completed its second Joint External Evaluation (JEE) in 2023 and has shown significant improvement from the first JEE in 2017, however several gaps remain. Strengthening NCDC and MDAs health systems and workforce management capacity will further support Nigeria"s ability to work collaboratively using a multisectoral approach to implement the IHR. Strengthening sub-national capacities can improve detection and response to health threats at the local level where they occur.

Expanding global health security though local partnerships in Tanzania

CDC is working with the Tanzania government to meet key International Health Regulations requirements through implementation of the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). Tanzania completed the Joint External Evaluation and launched a costed National Action Plan for Health Security based on a multi-sectorial approach. This NOFO supports programs/activities in the following areas: strengthening biosurveillance systems networked to information sharing platforms to predict and identify health threats, including at points of entry; expanding emergency capacity through national and subnational emergency operation centers; enhancing national laboratory capabilities and applying biosafety and biosecurity best practices for accurate, and reliable detection of outbreaks, antimicrobial resistance and emerging zoonotic diseases; increasing timely and transparent reporting of disease emergencies and threats to relevant national and international authorities; and developing a functional biosurveillance workforce with trained disease detectives and laboratory scientists.

Strengthening global health security in India to contain public health threats and accelerate outbreak response

This NOFO"s purpose is to support district, state and national public health systems in India to advance GHSA priorities to prevent, detect and respond to infectious disease threats. CDC will work with the Government of India (GoI) to strengthen capacity to control disease outbreaks at their source and neutralize public health threats. This NOFO will augment and increasingly transition CDC-supported GHSA initiatives to GoI institutions including the National Centre for Disease Control, National Health Mission, Indian Council of Medical Research, National Disaster Management Authority, National Institute of Disaster Management and All Indian Institute of Medical Science. The core aim is to enhance India"s public health capacity through a One Health approach in alignment with the International Health Regulations in five key areas: 1) public health workforce; 2) disease surveillance; 3) laboratory systems; 4) emergency preparedness and response; and 5) antimicrobial resistance.

Expanding global health security through local partnerships in Ethiopia

The CDC office in Ethiopia was established in 2001 and works closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), and other Government of Ethiopia (GOE) agencies to develop the capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to priority diseases. In 2014, CDC began coordination with the GOE to build Ethiopia's capacity to achieve the International Health Regulation (IHR) targets through implementing the Global Health Security Agenda. The initial road map was developed with multi-sector partners in 2015, and the multi-sector collaboration is proving successful with over 500 trained in field epidemiology, a national public health emergency operations center activated for outbreaks and expanding diagnostic and surveillance capacity. In 2020, CDC has continued to support and advance GOE's ability to detect, respond and manage multiple concurrent outbreaks that plague Ethiopia on a yearly basis through the collaboration of multiple implementing partners including EPHI. CDC will continue to empower the GOE to strengthen their response efforts to public health emergencies by building on the 2020-2025 projects focused on CDC's Global Health Security Framework. The strategic focus areas of CDC's work to achieve Ethiopia's IHR compliance are the following: (1) Laboratory, (2) Workforce Development, (3) Surveillance, (4) Emergency Response and Management, (5) Antimicrobial Resistance (6) Immunization, (7) Health Information System Strengthening.

The overarching goal of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) and its companion opportunities is to establish the Precision Medicine with AI: Integrating Imaging with Multimodal Data (PRIMED-AI) Program to support development of innovative, reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable multimodal AI-based clinical decision support (CDS) tools. PRIMED-AI CDS tools are based on the integration of clinical imaging with other types of multimodal health data to enhance care for patients with a wide range of health conditions. The PRIMED-AI Program seeks to catalyze the adoption of AI-based CDS tools into clinical workflows to enable novel personalized medicine strategies that address significant health challenges.The purpose of this NOFO is to create a Logistics Center for the PRIMED-AI Program to facilitate and coordinate PRIMED-AI activities to maximize impact for the PRIMED-AI community. Within the Logistics Center, three integrated Cores will serve the functions of Administration, Evaluation, and Outreach for the PRIMED-AI Consortium. It is expected that the Logistics Center will work closely with other PRIMED-AI consortium members to collect, curate and disseminate information regarding tools developed by the PRIMED-AI award recipients, and will facilitate widespread access and awareness across the relevant scientific, patient, and clinical communities.

Protecting and Improving Global Health Security by Engaging Local Partners: Strengthening and Sustaining Public Health Systems in Ghana

This NOFO seeks to build and sustain a more resilient public health system in Ghana capable of identifying, responding to and mitigating public health threats.
